about

This song was completed in October of 2016 as a companion to Gratification at 20. I waited to write this one until after my September birthday; the night of my birthday in 2015 (when I turned 20) was the spark for that song and the relationship behind The Negligent Biome - EP.

lyrics

I heard you were running from sleeping
So busy retreating, you left time for nothing at all
A secret I hoped you were keeping
For the time being, hope fell with the passing of fall

Your potence in my age, poured on a private page

After your brush with a tiring temptation
You fled the nation, and left it domestic behind
I thought to replace that consuming sensation
Found only frustration, its permanence left me resigned

Those pages went to print, a widely published hint
Although I cast it blind, you kindly caught the line

I keep remembering late last December when Laura laughed right in my face
Light grew in my eyes just for you saying "hi" and she deemed me a pitiful case
I wanted to tell you in hopes to dispel any doubt you re-centered my life

I heard that you’ve never invested this wholly
I heard when you told me, A year since you let me inside
So happened our pace set surprisingly boldly
But why take it slowly? Our puzzle leaves no piece behind

The boundaries melt away, you said how long to stay
Once windows now the door, our get grew so much more

Plumes Boston, Massachusetts

Plumes is Ben Long (on the drums!) Tim Green and John Thorsen. Music- listening to it, learning to play it, writing more of it- has been one of few things we've taken really seriously for the last 7 years. These songs grew through many late nights and missed appointments. Our songs are all really about something. It's sincere and sometimes naked. Hope you like it ... more
