about

Back in the summer of 2017, my sister called with some great news: she was getting married the following summer and she wanted me to play the music for her procession! What could I do to compose a compelling 4 minute piece that I could perform live? I knew I didn't want vocals--too garish--so I would lean on just playing guitar. However, I'm no Blake Mills or Julian Lage; writing a compelling solo piece to play just me and the instrument would be challenging and limiting.

Then, for Christmas, my sister got me a looping pedal. It totally opened up my possibilities. it's a great tool for playing songs with stacking parts, making it possible for an instrumental piece to really grow. We've come to use it live, all the time, for songs like Willingly Marooned, Back on 17, and now Mirror. Now I'm finally releasing the piece that justified getting the looper in the first place.

Along with it are a few other pieces that either showcase the looper, and/or that are one-off projects I've been hesitating to release until they found the right company. I hope you enjoy them!

The Mighty Shawn Davern performs 5 Trombone parts and 2 Tubas for the "EF Core Value Jingle."

Ben Long plays Drums and the SLP Team from EF sings backing vocals on the same track.

Ben Long also engineered the "Summer in Boston" soundtrack, the original version of what would become the song "Mirror," recently released on our album "TEA" in possibly its final version.

Finally, my brother Joe arranged programmed drums and mixed "A Spooky Song for Halloween at Mugar Library."

about

Plumes Boston, Massachusetts

Plumes is Ben Long (on the drums!) Tim Green and John Thorsen. Music- listening to it, learning to play it, writing more of it- has been one of few things we've taken really seriously for the last 7 years. These songs grew through many late nights and missed appointments. Our songs are all really about something. It's sincere and sometimes naked. Hope you like it ... more
